Countess Elizabeth Báthory was a Hungarian noblewoman from the kingdom of Hungary. She was born on 7th August 1560 and belonged to the noble family of Báthory, who owned land in the Kingdom of Hungary, which consists of present-day Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania.
She was born to Baron George VI Báthory and Baroness Anna Báthory. From mother’s side, Elizabeth was the niece of Hungarian noble Stephen Báthory, the king of Poland and the Prince of Transylvania.
As a young woman, Elizabeth learned Hungarian, Latin, Greek, and German. Born into a family of nobility, she was endowed with education, wealth, and a notable social rank.
